Manhattan Valley Neighborhood Eats Series

November 25, 2008 · 3 Comments

There are so many great places to eat in my neighborhood that I’ve decided to start a little series about them, the Manhattan Valley Neighborhood Eats. For those who don’t know, Manhattan Valley is a neighborhood on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City, bounded by West 110th Street to the north, Central Park West to the east, West 96th Street to the south, and Broadway to the west. It was formerly known as the Bloomingdale District, and is still occasionally so called. (according to this Wiki article on the neighborhood)

My neighborhood is awesome because there’s so many food and drink choices due to all the different types of communities that live here. Being the an extension of the Upper West Side, there are brunch menus galore. Being near Columbia University, there are quite a few pub scenes that are fun and definitely worth going to. And finally, being a neighborhood that is still in the process of gentrification, there are still a lot of cheap, quality eats. Yum.

Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland

November 18, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I can’t wait.  Tim Burton is making his version of Alice in Wonderland. I have loved these stories since my childhood, from watching Disney’s cartoon version to reading the Carroll novels and realizing just how messed up these stories are. Now Burton will bring them to their truest, most terrifying forms with his wild and rampant imagination. The movie is scheduled to come out in 2010. Meanwhile, here is a first taste to what the mood will be for this film – Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter:

My latest post on SearchFuel is live now. In light of our President-elect’s ability to embrace social media, I decided to write about it here.
